Bear Paw Quilt

For the very confident beginner/quiltmaker, this quilt is made from solid fabrics and a black background in a diagonal setting. Half square triangle papers are used to make the half square triangle units. You may choose to use 1/4 yard cuts of fabric or fat quarters for the blocks. Beginners Quilting Class

Beginners Quilting Teacher: Diane Patrice Rogers Six sessions With this class, you will be introduced to some of the history behind quilting, the tools quilters use, strip cutting, chain piecing, machine piecing, applique, machine and hand quilting, borders with mitered corners, binding and labeling. Sort/sew/slice your scraps into new fabric! This technique class will address those bits, pieces, chunks & strips you have fondly held on to all these years. Besides learning an efficient way to sew them, we will address organization and quilt designing. Join us in creating your very own Feathered Star masterpiece brought to you from Hoop Sisters with fabulous quilting designs digitized by Master Quilter Sharon Schamber. Your quilt blocks are made entirely in the hoop of your embroidery machine using the Hoop Sisters technique, in a 5", 6", 7", 8" or 9" block depending upon your choice and your embroidery machine's hoop-size. When your block is stitched, your quilting is finished! Quilt 'n Sew will offer this Block of the Month program for 10 months beginning in January, 2015. These lecture/demo sessions will be held at 2:00 p.m., on the third Thursday of each month, or the Saturday following the third Thursday if you cannot attend the weekday session.

Judy Niemeyer's 2015 Technique of the Month

Certified Instructor Jan Mathews will be hosting a retreat-style class the week of February 2. Her students will be engrossed in this fabulous new technique every day that week from 9 am to 6 pm. Sign up as soon as you can as there is limited space available. The class fee is only $239 for five full days of intense but fun education. The Pattern for this Technique of the Month is available only through Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructors and will be purchased from Jan the first day of class for $75.
