Returning to Quilt 'n Sew, Brenda Henning will be introducing us to the Fat Quarter Cut-Up / Liberated Hunter Star. Known for her books on Strip Therapy, she will be showing us how to stack squares and then sub-cut into pieces making variations of whimsical stars. The design decision is up to you to complete by following a detailed diagram or creating your own direction. The technique is fun and the results can be totally surprising. First in a fun-filled series of machine embroidery workshops, these bright key fobs will be completed entirely in class. Learning skills will include basic applique and zipper insertion entirely on your machine. These classes have been frequently requested by our customers and are a great way to learn or brush-up on quilting techniques for the beginner. We will have 10 beginning quilting techniques to include: the correct way for rotary cutting, patch work blocks, paper-piecing and choosing thread and fabric, among the many other skills to be learned. The patterns sewn can be used a sample blocks for a workbook or an entire small quilt when completed. If you complete 8 out of the 10 sessions, a special "Graduation Gift" will be earned - an entire year's Quilt 'n Sew Club membership worth $35. Session #1 - Focus on the correct way for rotary cutting, fabric preparation and tools, by making a churn dash sample Session #2 - Learn how to construct half square triangles with a basket block pattern.
